Itchy & Flaky Scalp

An itchy, oily, or flaky scalp isn't just uncomfortable — it's a poor environment for hair to grow. Congested follicles, Malassezia yeast overgrowth, and chronic irritation all undermine density before a single hair is lost. Calm the scalp first: physician-formulated, drug-free treatments with mandelic acid, caffeine, lilac stem cell, and CLA glutathione that detoxify follicles, rebalance the scalp, and prepare it for growth — including gentle pre- and post-hair-transplant care.

Flaking is a signal, not just a nuisance

Most persistent flaking is seborrheic dermatitis rather than dry skin, and the two call for opposite responses — dryness improves with less washing, seborrheic dermatitis usually worsens with it, because the underlying issue is an inflammatory response to Malassezia yeast feeding on scalp oil. A useful distinction: dry-skin flakes are small, white and loose; seborrheic flakes are larger, yellowish and greasy, often with redness underneath and itching that is worse when the scalp is oiliest.

Why it matters for density

Chronic scalp inflammation is not a cosmetic problem. Sustained inflammation around the follicle is associated with shorter growing phases and finer regrowth, which is why calming the scalp is the first step in a density routine rather than an optional extra. If flaking comes with well-defined silvery plaques, spreads beyond the scalp, or accompanies hair loss in discrete patches, see a physician — those are different conditions.
