Aging & Mature Hair

Hair changes with age even when it is not falling out. Strands grow finer, the scalp produces less oil, colour fades, and the growth cycle shortens so hair spends less time growing and more time resting.

Collagen production declines steadily after our mid-30s, and hair is built on a protein scaffold — which is why this collection pairs internal nourishment with topical care. Marine collagen and biotin supply the building blocks, lilac-derived verbascoside addresses the DHT pathway, and MD® Color Restoration supports the follicle's own melanin production without dye.

Two changes at once

Mature hair usually reflects two independent processes running in parallel: the growth cycle shortens, so each strand spends less time growing and reaches a shorter maximum length; and the follicle's pigment cells slow, so new growth arrives lighter. They are separate mechanisms, which is why colour and density often change on different timelines, and why addressing one does nothing for the other. Scalp oil production also declines with age, which is why a routine that suited hair at 30 can leave it dry and static-prone at 55 — the wash step usually needs to change before anything else does.
